Igor Shapovalov at the seminar “New Vehicle Positioning Opportunities”

Igor Shapovalov, Junior Researcher at the Center for Technologies in Robotics and Mechatronics Components of Innopolis University took part in the technical seminar “New Vehicle Positioning Opportunities”.

The event was attended by more than 100 experts from leading Russian organizations involved in unmanned driving technologies.

Igor Shapovalov made a presentation of “Application of modern positioning methods using unmanned vehicles as an example”, this research article presented methods for determining the position and orientation of an unmanned vehicle in three-dimensional space, utilized by the Autonomous Transportation Systems Lab.

“This method is robust and effective and also helping us to solve the localization problem in off-road conditions and by the good road infrastructure in real time”, said Salimzhan Gafurov, Head of the Autonomous Transportation Systems Lab of the Center for Technologies in Robotics and Mechatronics Components.

The seminar was held at JSC NIIAS (Research and Design Institute for Information Technology, Signalling and Telecommunications in Railway Transportation), which was established in 2007 by Russian Railways on the basis of the State Unitary Enterprise All-Soviet Union Research and Design Institute for Information Technology, Signalling and Telecommunications and Russian Federation Ministry of Communication with the participation of Research and Development Centre COMTECHTRANS CJSC. The Institute’s activities are aimed at adoption of advanced achievements in the Russian railway industry, in such sectors as: automation, computer engineering, telemechanics, information and communication technologies.
